Dr. Jeanette Andrade, Instructor and DI Coordinator, was recently named as a member of the Board of Editors for the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. In this role, she will play a pivotal role in deciding which articles are published in this esteemed journal.

Dr. Lisa Brooks Elected to AAFCS Board of Directors
Dr. Lisa Brooks has been elected to serve a three-year term on the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Board of Directors. Congratulations!
Dr. Lisa Brooks Presents at AAFCS Conference
Lisa Brooks, PhD, an assistant professor, presented several sessions at the AAFCS 2016 conference in Bellevue, Washington. Sessions included “The AAFCS ‘Dining In’ on Family and Consumer Sciences Day Initiative: Exploring the Power of Family Meals”; “Success Stories on the Affiliate Level: Leadership Academy Alumni Making a Difference”; and, Putting Research into Practice, “The Power of the AAFCS Leadership Academy: Why You Should Apply.” In addition, Dr. Brooks served as the Illinois Affiliate representative for the AAFCS Leadership Council.

Dr. Simpson receives AAFCS award!
Dr. Linda Simpson received the AAFCS Family Economics and Resource Management Community 2016 Education Award based on the financial literacy programs that she developed for the LIFE Center. She will be presented the award at the AAFCS Conference in Bellevue, WA June 22-25, 2016.
Brooke Kimball selected to present at 2016 NCUR!
Brooke Kimball, an undergraduate FCS teacher cert student, has had her research (titled: Facebook and Grieving) selected to present at the National Council on Undergraduate Research annual conference at the University of North Carolina Asheville! Brooke’s faculty mentor is Dr. Lisa Moyer and she is working with two additional undergraduate research students on the Facebook and grieving research: Brianna Johnson and Samantha Rawlings (both FCS undergraduate students).

Dr. Lisa Brooks, an assistant professor, received notification that her proposal entitled “Examining the relationship between family meals and reducing child obesity” has been accepted by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Dr. Brooks will be presenting at the AAFCS conference in Bellevue, Washington in June 2016.
