Dr. Lisa Moyer presented her research on social media and grief at the 2015 American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences annual conference in Jacksonville, FL. Drs. Moyer, Sherwood, and Burns also collaborated on a presentation regarding how to use social media to connect with students and alumni at the conference.
In addition, Dr. Moyer attended the Illinois Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association annual conference in Lisle, IL to recruit undergraduate and graduate students to the EIU FCS programs. Dr. Moyer gave a presentation to the organization on the new online Master’s in FCS degree and represented EIU at the exhibitor fair to promote all EIU FCS programs.
FCS Professor, Dr. Kathleen O’Rourke, was a participant in the 2015 American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference & Expo in Jacksonville, Florida. Along, with Drs. Linda Simpson, Crystal Duncan-Lane, and Katie Shaw, Dr. O’Rourke co-presented Taking Care of YOU!: Strategies for Self-Care, Health, and Well-Being for the Busy FCS Professional. Dr. O’Rourke is the Past Chair of the Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society Board of Directors and served as the Kappa Omicron Nu exhibit representative at the AAFCS Conference Expo. Dr. O’Rourke serves as the Kappa Omicron Nu representative on the AAFCS Alliance, which was created in 2006 and spearheads initiatives and addresses issues related to the integrative nature of Family and Consumer Sciences. The AAFCS Alliance is comprised of AAFCS leaders from fifteen invited national FCS organizations.
